My Buddy drives a Scion TC and when i got my GS he wanted to race down this semi-windy half mile road. We Each had a passenger in the car, bone stock,and we started from a stand still. The first race I spun out at the start and he beat me by a hair. In the second race however I had a great start and he was at my side mirror for a good while till we got to the harder turn. I took my foot of the gas at 80 and pushed it back in at the sweet spot and downshifted. Long story short I won with him at my tail lights. Gotta love the suspension on that eclipse.

 

If you on stock suspension then you are out of your mind. the 3G eclipse is among some of the worst handling sprots cars made of that time lol. the need alot of body stiffining and springs, shocks, struts, and a camber kit to handle pretty good

 

You make a good point. But then again its not about the car but the driver behind it right? I'm just a risque guy who knows how to drive i guess. I do plan on modding it though, i'm just a little short on money. What's the first performance part I should buy? I was going to go for an AEM or K&N Cold Intake first but then again doesn't everyone?

 

its mostly a drivers game in your case here because the Tc will out handle a 3G Eclipse for sure with equal drivers. First mod an Intake is a nice choice. they add a small amount. Dont expect to get alot of HP from these cars they are tough. you can turbo they or supercharge them and make decent power but its expensive.

 

yea i don't have that kind of money yet haha. I don't need alot of horse power, I don't really race often its just fun to have. Although I might take it Autocrossing. I heard its fun and there is a good track close to Austin.

 

If autoX I would reccommend a completely different approach instead of just HP mods. Youll be much happier with suspension, wheels, tires and chasis stiffening. Youll get the most benifit for autoX and road courses taken that route
