I was driving down a crowded road yesterday and a Dodge Ram wouldn't get off my butt so I slowed way down. Finally he gets into the lane next to me and starts revving his engine driving next to me. We pull up to a red light and he rolls down his window and calls my car a POS. I looked at him and said something to the effect of him being stupid to race his truck against an Evo. He then tells me he's got the Dodge Viper engine in his truck. I didn't believe him but noticed a badge that said SRT10. As far as I know the SRT cars from Dodge are all fixed up...right? Did he have the Dodge Viper engine? We ended up racing and I beat him by 3 car lengths. Then he flipped me off as he drove by...what's up with this?

 

the truck does have a viper engine, but it's weighed down and pull more towards torque. but had one of those dudes trying to pass me on the freeway, as far as i know, it sounds alright, but has no power with the weight. but it's funny how everything thing that has the SRT badge on it seem to disappoint

 

Yeah, it seems those trucks are racing alot of people who dont know they have the Viper mill. They are very nose heavy though, and its got the aerodynamics of a brick. I think they pull in high 13s though.

 

As well you should have beat him, his 1/4 mile time is 13.8- pretty ****y considering 500HP, 525 TQ, six speed and 4.10 rear end. I think the 22" wheels aren't helping that too much, but top speed is where they come into play. But it's a Viper powered pickup and dethroned the SVT Lightning as fastest production pickup.

 

they weigh over 2 tons don't they? i knew they were pretty heavy things........if they were lighter it might actually have been worth your time.

 

lol...the curb weight is 5691 lbs. for the SRT10 vs 3274 for an Evo IX.

 

you sure it wasnt a hemi with a SRT-10 badge on it, cuz down here we got a single cab ram V6 with duals and SRT-10 badges EVERYWHERE lol but idk if urs was or not?

 

The EVO will take the Hemi Ram more than 3 car lengths- the SRT10 Ram has roughly 150 more HP/ 100 more TQ than the Hemi Ram and pretty much the same weight. The 1/4 mile of a Hemi Ram is 14 sec, 0-60 is 7 seconds. That territory is pretty easily dealt with by a modded Ralliart Lancer and a walk in the park for a modded Evo IX.
