my friend wants to race me in his rustang,
i have a 94 gsx with approx 14k on it thats prettymuch bone stock (oh yeah, and its a manuel)
anyways jakes got a 93 5.slow with the folowing

aftermarket intake manifold
cai
70mm tb'egr
some cam (???)
stock heads off a 93 ford lightning with a small valve job
shifter
sub-frame connectors.


hes been talking a lot of $hit, and i was just wondering...are 5.o's really as quick as i think they are?

he's had this car for about 8 months so he knows how to drive it (as do i)

any thoughts?

 

with the said mods, he should beat you from just about any speed. Now maybe on the highway you should hang but like i said from just about any speed he should take you. These cars are said to run 15's possibly 14's with the right driver. Now imagine that he just added about an extra 65 hp with just some simple bolt ons. I know that i will get flamed for this but reality is that mustangs of the eighties were not fast, but the blocks are good and with heads intake and a cam swap, i see no reason for him not to beat you. Now if his auto is tired or he cant drive a stick then maybe you can hang but i dont see you showing him your tail lights anytime soon.

 

Dont underestimate a 5.0 mustang i had a 86 that was hella quick and would easily do 130mph...

 

86 at 130mph huh? hmmm....

with those mods, he should beat you if he can drive.

 

i never raced any 5.0 with my 2g but a buddy ofmine hada 98 GT 4.6 with headers exhaust computer chip n intake, me with a bone stock 97 GST- took him by 2 cars. after that he quickly put the stang up for sale LOL

 

5.0liter H/o Hatchback only problem was it leaked every fluid she had even gas

 

My dad has a stock 5.0 that runs 13's. And even a 15 year old that didn't know how to drive could beat your car with a taken care of 5.0

in my 66 mustang i ran my friends 1 gen gsx and i smoked him but i hadd a lot of money in that car i put trickflow heads ,comp cam rollercam , roller rockers ,high rise intake ,850cfm holly carb, headers,and it was a 302h/o with 350 gears and a poztrack rearend he did not have a chance

 

Huh no one else caught this??? there is no way in hell an AWD eclipse will hang with it on the highway... the only way the GSX has a chance is from a dead stop. AWD sucks on the highway, I lose to SRT4s on the highway but from a stop I can beat them without any trouble.

No back on topic the mustang will win with mods unless you go from a stop and he cant launch his RWD very well. even then id bet he would catch up by 70MPH or so and pass on by
