Yea so my brother has a 1996 Del sol with the v-tec engine I think it puts out about 260 HP. I have an 2004 GTS eclipse which says it pushes about 210HP He wants to race me and I told him thats fine. Is this car going to smoke me pretty bad or what? He says that I'm not going to be able to keep up with him.

 

I doubt he has 260HP but even if its a 200HP motor he will beat you by quite a bit. your car is heavier by a far margin

Well if it is truely the vtec engine in it then those only came stock with a 1.6L 160bhp. So they are not very fast at all. And i doubt he has the type of power hes claiming even with any mods. Id say it should be a pretty close race. Let us know the outcome

 

i think you should have him, does he have anthing done to it?? other wise it is none more than a DelSlow

 

depends on the Vtec motor... if its a stock motor they are all slow and SOHC I think in the del sol. But if its a GSR B18 or anything like that it will most likly be a quick car

 

If he's speaking of 260bhp, he most likely speaking of the B16 the 1995 del sol came with. Not to say he actually pushing the horsepower, but it's quite possible.
Realistically speaking, expect to loose because of the weight ratio.

i didnt think any del sol was ever rated at that. I thought even the B16 v-tecs were rated at 160bhp

 

b16b's are rated at 160
