01 Spyder or an unknown year Z28? My guess is the Z28 is a newer gen, and the race will theoretically be on a road course such as this:

actually a stock 2000 z28 had 305 hp out of the 5.7L V8. and it handles like ****. this is why camaro lost the IROC. in a drag race, you would get creamed, they plant power very well. in a road course, ive never seen a camaro beat a eclipse except when the eclipse had a bad driver.

We have rally (cone track) racing in rantoul every summer. the last one i went to the best car was a 97 eclipse gsx. the little car handles superbly. but i would suggest making sure you have max performance tires with a high side load capability. and trick springs, as well as strut tower brace. and lots of practice. rally racing is not as easy as it looks.

I gotta go w/ wildwest on this one although the eclipse is heavy the z28 is heavier and doesn't handle as well but again it's not the car but the driver in most cases.

Rear wheel drive isn't challanging if you know what you're doing. Fwd's allow you to most of the time just point where you wanna go, if you know when to brake and accelerate with a rear wheel drive you can do just as well. Personally if I took both those cars out on a track I'd probably be faster with the camero than the eclipse. If it was a GSX the awd would bring the times close with the added handling in corners but there's a big hp differance between the non turbo spyder and the Z28. There's a lot of staight aways in that loop where the z28 would pull well away from the eclipse. Also the spider's gonna be much less rigid a car than the z28 cause of the lack of a structural roof.

If you were to find out which was faster you would have to use the same driver and go off of times. If that were the case then the Z28 would smoke it
