Default 2001 Montero Limited - Off Road

I installed a "firm" full suspension from Old Man Emu out of Australia on my rig, along with some larger Goodyear MTR tires and 17" rims. I run with a very hardcore Jeep and rock crawler crowd and am not only able to keep up on all but the worst trails, I have the advantage of being able to run smoothly at over 60 mph on most rough roads. This product is superb. I have been fully airborne on many occasions and have never bottomed out, and the extra 2" lift is just right and does not compromise the ride.

I removed all of the silly body plastic and have now added a custom front bumper that gives me a superb angle of attack. While my friends struggle on paved roads, I run just fine and have nice cold AC. The Monte is very underrated for toughness, being usually found in the hands of soccer moms.

I also just added the new Kevlar MTR tires which have an asymetrical and directional tread. One of the tread rows is very tight so it is quiet and handles very well on paved roads. Virtually impossible to pop them too.

Would love to hear from anyone else using the Montero to its capacity off road.

Link to the kit? I am up here in Northern Utah and already love the off-roading in stock form. What is underneath the plastic panels by the way? I have thought about using the bed liner stuff to make it stronger.

Default Body Panels

There are a few holes underneath, but fully painted. I will get some photos up this week. Liner would be good, though I need something metal due to rough brush, thinking about plain old diamond plate.
