I bought a 99 Eclipse RS last week and like the idiot i am, i didn't notice that the two front strut mounts are completely rusted out. I went to a body shop for a quote on a repair and i was told its not even worth it because all it would do is delay the inevitable, and if I try to drive it in the condition it is in then the struts might come through the hood while I'm on the road. I ordered front and rear strut bars for it just so I can at least drive it until i find something else. Should I just try and sell it as is, I want to get at least 1000 out of it.

i'm not sure what "ineviatable" you're supposedly delaying, if the sh*t is repaired properly, it's repaired properly.
although, chances are, if the turrets are rusted out, there's other rust through the car.

set fire to it and claim insurance.

I agree. if you want to keep the car and you have some fabricating skills or the money to pay a shop to do it, it can be repaired. it just depends on how committed to your eclipse you are.
