35" is the largest tire possible without having to move the rear axle.

BFGoodrich 315/70R17. Same tire used on the H2 Hummer. The significant change in tire size is compensated with an on-board switch to properly calibrate the speedometer.

When you open the door, you can see where the original car ended. The new tires widen the stance by over 10 inches. And in accordance with Icelandic law, your fender flares must cover your tires. Very considerate not to throw your mud on others. The new width eliminated the Montero's notorious top-heavy feel.

You can tell that this is a custom one of a kind job as this fender kit will only fit this exact year and model Montero. The front door panel striping is stock. The back door is custom. Nice match

The icelandic style is to fit large, wide tires, without having to jack the car up too far. This reduces sway and tipping, offering better handling and crawling

In order to fit these tires and maintain low center of gravity, they cut away the body before attaching custom fiberglass fenderflares. Even the windshield washer fluid tank is custom as the new tires take up more space in the engine bay.

It's hard to tell where stock ends and custom starts. For example, the striped door panel on the front door is stock, but the matching one on the rear door is custom to accommodate the fender flare
