Default Need help fixing my rusty exhaust! (Galant VR-G 1.8l)

Hello everyone, I'm (essentially) a brand new Mitsubishi owner as I have just purchased my second ever car, a 1.8l 1996 Mitsubishi Galant Manual.

Now, I got it on the cheap and while it runs, it isn't legal where I live. Among the biggest problems it has is the holes in the exhaust.

Now, when I say holes, I mean giant gashes along places I have no hope of fixing with just exhaust clamps. Can't weld it either because it is so corroded and weak. Essentially, I need to buy whole new piping, but that is where I'm hitting my snag.

I need to buy whole new piping, but I cannot for the life of me find any. This car came with like 4 different engine options and half of where I look seems to think this trim never even existed despite how much it sold.

HOWEVER... I can entire exhaust kits for the 2.4l version of this car. Now, both are inline 4s, both make similar power, etc, though they are quite mechanically different.
The 1.8l is DOHC (I think) and direct gasoline injection, whereas the 2.4l is SOHC and port fuel injection.

Essentially, I am asking if anyone here knows if I can use the system from the 2.4 for the 1.8 engine?
Or more accurately, how much would it theoretically take to make the 2.4 system work of the 1.8.

I figure this is one of the best places to find Mitsubishi enthusiasts and experts who may be able to help, so I look forward to any info anyone here can offer!
Thank you.
