View Full Version : HLP installing my CAI nashua n.h.
tony32p 02-01-2007, 01:26 PM hey everybody. im looking for some help installing my Fujita CAI in my 07 eclipse gt(manual). is there anybody close to my location that has experience with this? this is my first mod to the car so a little too nervous to do it myself. thanx all.
EMonz57 02-01-2007, 02:18 PM Where you located?? I have done a million intake they are litaraly the easiest mod you can ever do to any car.
F.O.G. 02-01-2007, 02:34 PM I believe he is from Nashua NH.
tony32p 02-01-2007, 03:03 PM hey emonz57 you are from middleboro ma? i have done much work there and that is a very short drive for me. would you be intrested in showing me the ropes when my part comes in? i really dont want to get stuck paying a shop because i kno they will just rake me over the coals on it.
EMonz57 02-01-2007, 09:43 PM In Middleboro Ma. When are you getting the parts? Im telling you this seriously is something you dont need to waiste gas to come down here for. it really is that easy. youll need most likly a few sockets and thats it prob a 10-12-14mm socket and that is all. Your stock intake it what black tube that comes from the top of your motor and routes up to the front and snorklesup inbetween the seem of the hood and front bumper? all you need to do is pull that out. take of the top of the air box there will most likly be a few bolt in there to remove prob 4 of them. then after than you will need to unplug the little wire harness going to it and then un screw to losen up the clamp on the throttle body then your done taking the old one out
tony32p 02-01-2007, 10:48 PM yea it does seem like an easy install but im just a little nervous never modding before. the parts should be in early next week. i would say wed. by the latest, and your only about a half hour from me i think. i do work all over ma. so middleboro is a common drive for me.
EMonz57 02-01-2007, 10:57 PM Well if you want to drive we can figure something out im sure. not a big deal at all. You know im gonna need a beat run ride in that thing so I can compair to my Evo lol. to bad my Evo is out of action till summer
tony32p 02-01-2007, 11:13 PM haha of course ill let you take it out. its stock eclipse gt 6 speed, this will be the first upgrade so theres not much to be impressed by but be my guest man. ill send you a private message and maybe we can set something up. i already did thismorning but ill send an updated one. next upgrade on the list is a magnaflow cat-back exhaust. the injen is just too much. any other suggestions on what way to go with the exhaust im all ears. thanx mate.
TheEngineer 02-02-2007, 12:29 AM magnaflow is pretty good. Check here (http://www.roadraceengineering.com/4g.htm) for some good details. Gives a nice sound clip and dyno results for that exhaust. Seems pretty nice to me
tony32p 02-02-2007, 10:04 AM thanks for the link. i have been there but never noticed the clip... the exhaust sounds good, even tho performance increase is my first priority. is there another exhaust out with a higher end sound?
TheEngineer 02-02-2007, 10:50 AM i dont know. Im not sure how many companies are making exhuast for that car. When you say higher end sound do you mean louder? Cuz to me i really liked the way the magnaflow sounded. A nice deep tone and not too loud.
TheEngineer 02-02-2007, 10:54 AM maybe look at these vids for an idea too. They are kinda ****ty since you really cant here much from them. The only thing i dont like is they are only axleback which is knida a waste
http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=4g+eclipse+exhaust&so=0
tony32p 02-02-2007, 12:02 PM yea i dont think many ppl are making exhaust yet for the 4g gt. i think injens just came out but its hella expensive. as far as sound. loud= no good for me. the growl was nice and not over the top. but like you said it had a really deep tone. im trying to think of an example of the sound i was thinking of. maybe something like a crotch rocket. but its nothing i will research. i really like the magna flow and sound low on the requirement list for me, i just care about the performance upgrade and the fit. i was told that the magna flow is good fit to the car.
TheEngineer 02-02-2007, 12:19 PM yea if it were me id go with magnaflow. They have been around a long time and the fit is proven by online sites that build-up the cars as well as the proven results from it. Seems to me the best option there
tony32p 02-02-2007, 12:32 PM if you pay close attension to the sound of that greddy axle back. it sounds awesome. but you are right, screw axle back. i took the clip of the greddy and the magnaflow and compared. lets just say magnaflow FTW!
TheEngineer 02-02-2007, 01:10 PM well hope to see ya down here with that 4g ;)
tony32p 02-02-2007, 04:29 PM hey emonz did ya get my pm's?
EMonz57 02-02-2007, 04:47 PM yupe.... Lemme know when you get your parts in. We can plan accordingly. I currently only get thurday and sundays off from work.yes we should have all the tools here at my apartment to install it. It prob will only take like a half hour if that
tony32p 02-02-2007, 05:00 PM ahh kk gotcha. sounds good. should be here early next week. ill keep ya up to date.
F.O.G. 02-02-2007, 07:17 PM Hey Emonz, I don't know if your going to get involved with the exhaust, but if you guys want to do that at my house, your welcome to use the lift. I know its kind of a ride to get here, but I'm always looking to help out a fellow enthusiast and help him save a few bucks. Besides, he'll owe us a trip to H ( . ) ( . ) TERS in Nashua if we help him out LOL
tony32p 02-02-2007, 08:27 PM actually its just a fujita CAI for now but yea im getting a cat-back in the next couple weeks. Hooters it is! hit me up anytime mate!
TheEngineer 02-02-2007, 08:34 PM Yaaaa Hooters!! :D. Yea that'd be awesome if he gets the catback and wants some help from us with it.
tony32p 02-02-2007, 09:39 PM yea i would love the help because i sure cant do it alone. you guys must be close by no? where are you both from?

TheEngineer is my roomate lol. F.O.G. is from webster Ma and has an Evo as well
tony32p 02-02-2007, 10:17 PM ahh kk. i gotcha. evo's ugh.. you lucky s.o.b.'sill just have to be happy w my eclipse. i couldnt afford one of those.
TheEngineer 02-02-2007, 11:01 PM how much did you pay for the 4g?
tony32p 02-02-2007, 11:15 PM $24,000. eclipse gt (manual)and i added the sun and sound package. its a sun roof and a fozgate 650w system
EMonz57 02-03-2007, 01:01 AM ORIGINAL: tony32p
$24,000. eclipse gt (manual)and i added the sun and sound package. its a sun roof and a fozgate 650w system
Then you could have afforded and Evo... I paid only $22k for my Evo it an 03 WITH SUNROOF (rare stuff there) and it only had 12k miles on it when I drove it off the lot actually it had 11,983 when I took it off the lott and it was bone stock. I got a monster deal on it but some have done even better than me.
F.O.G. 02-03-2007, 11:23 AM Actually, my son has a 3G eclipse. Hes not sure what to do with it yet. It has a RIPP supercharger , pistons, rods etc, etc. He decided that he wanted to put it back to stock and trade it for a WRX, becasue he couldn't pass inspection here in MA and he couldn't afford to get another ticket.. I spent about 3 days removing stuff from it, then he changed his mind and just went out a bought a WRX ( mgr demo) that he got a good deal on so he needed to make a quick decision. So the Eclipse sits with the interior full of parts. I think we should make a project car out of it and put it all back together. Maybe a good summer time project for all of us on the weekends????? I'll supply the BBQ and Brews :D
tony32p 02-03-2007, 11:26 AM hey just thought i'd ask. who do you guys go through for parts? do you get good deals. i have been pricing out my magnaflow for 07 eclipse gt cat-back and i found it for $390.00 have any of you seen it cheaper or can get it cheaper? btw 06 fits 07's and vice versa.
EMonz57 02-03-2007, 12:50 PM My parts come from everywhere. I have about $1500 in mods BUT I only paid $900 cause I wait for the deals to pop up. For example the Hks SSq Bov usually sells for close to $300 and then add the kit to recirculate it. Well I got the Bov and the kit for only $50, an SAFCII ususally seels between $200-$300 I paid $50 for that too hahahaha both were never used. The SAFC as installed then taken out of the car. the car it was in was my old eclipse I put it in. Never used it a few weeks later sold the car but I took it our first and I sold it with the car. well 2 years later he still had it and didnt know what it was so I offered him $50 for it back lol
tony32p 02-03-2007, 12:58 PM lmao!
tony32p 02-05-2007, 04:33 PM was hoping for the cai to arrive to day but not going to happen. maybe a lil too cold out to install it anyways. its freezing. some ppl say that when its this cool. your car runs worse w a cai. idles rough
EMonz57 02-05-2007, 08:13 PM the colder the air the better your car should run at WOT. Idle should do much but be a little higher
tony32p 02-05-2007, 08:36 PM yea i think i was reading an old post about the first cai's that were released for the 4g eclipse. many people had problems with them triggering engine lights and such, but my car has the updated system and since then new and better cai's have been manufactured. i should be in the clear
tony32p 02-08-2007, 07:46 PM hey emonz57. intakes in. ready when u are.
TheEngineer 02-09-2007, 12:13 PM sundays are probably the best day to do it since we are both off.

yea cept im on call this sunday.
F.O.G. 02-10-2007, 11:15 AM Hey guys, since EMonz is on call and its soooo cold out, I invited him down to my house so he can use the garage. I'm pretty sure hes going to come down tomorrow ( Sunday ) afternoon. Hope you guys dont mind. I know you cant leave the area cuz your on call but if the Engineer is totally bored and wants to come down, your more than welcome. We got an RSX on the lift removing the turbo and putting it back to stock ( for the purpose of beating a ticket ) so we'll probably be wrenching on that too!
My Baby.....she gone [&o][&o].....for now.
TheEngineer 02-10-2007, 08:51 PM I should be going down tommorow. I just need the address again cuz i forget how to get there
F.O.G. 02-11-2007, 04:50 PM Mission complete........no casulties, although John dropped a nut :D:D:D:D

tony32p 02-12-2007, 10:27 AM yea i can feel gains. nothing huge but they are there that is for sure.

tony32p 02-15-2007, 09:27 PM OH. didnt seem to work. ill try again
or wait. pics are here too. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2564579/1
EMonz57 02-15-2007, 11:03 PM I fixed the pics for ya
TheEngineer 02-15-2007, 11:04 PM hey why are you using two different clamps at the throttle body :Djk
tony32p 02-16-2007, 10:07 AM thanx for fixing the pics. haha theengineer im waiting for the day i break down on the highway and the garage tells me we just cant seem diagnose this problem!
F.O.G. 02-16-2007, 11:01 AM HAHA..... I was going to ask that, but I figuredthe install looked good and I didnt want him to feel bad. I bet nobody even noticed. The Engineer did most of the work, I ran around like a nut ( as usual ). We had another little project going on at the same time in the garage. Plus, MRI shows something torn in my shoulder. I can wait till that gets fixed. Maybe have to dump the EVO for something with a nice automatic tranny.............................NAH
tony32p 02-16-2007, 11:32 AM no ses light yet so all is good. running clean and hard!
F.O.G. 02-16-2007, 05:51 PM If your luck is like mine, you will not have the light come on until you have waited for 2 hours in line for an inspection sticker. When its your turn and pulling into the garage.....then the light will come on.
TheEngineer 02-16-2007, 06:02 PM HAHA yea that would suck. Thats when you quickly reset the battery and hope that it just stays off. :D
EMonz57 02-16-2007, 06:51 PM ORIGINAL: TheEngineer
HAHA yea that would suck. Thats when you quickly reset the battery and hope that it just stays off. :D
yea and thats when the OBDII reads it still. since we have the luxary of having newer cars and the ECU can store all that info. even if you reset the battery it stays in there for a curtain amount of miles
F.O.G. 02-17-2007, 07:13 PM You are right....unfortunatly [:@][:@]
