your car can still run without the mass air hooked up. is the check engine light coming on? yes it did it constantly before the spark plug change.

Yha well the check engine light is NOT on, so I'm thinking I'm going to re-time it, change the plugs, and fix the leak that I think I have

yes, its pretty much a spark plug with a gauge on the end of it and it reads how much compression is in your cylinders

Yes, very very easy.

Its a pressure gauge connected to a kind of long tube, that just screws into where your spark plug would normally go. You just test every cylinder. I cant remember exactly what your pressure should read. Someone on here like slow420 or emonz will know.
And youll need a friend to turn over your engine for you while you do it.

Just let it crank over 3 or 4 or 5 times, and that should be your reading.

Yep compression test first...that could save you a bit of money. If that reads well (forgot the exact numbers you should have) than I would tackle the timing and all spark related issues.
