today i heard a squealing noise from under my hood so i turned off the car and took the top timing belt cover off and i pulled out the balance shaft belt out of it, is there anything that can go bad if that happened? after that i went and washed my car and it drives fine. i just want to kow if i messed anything up, and should i replace it or just leave it?

 

I have seen many times the balance shafts lock up, it happened to me. I never fixed it and never asked anyone about what they did. Mine was fine for 2 years, all I can say is spin that shaft and see if you feel and tension.

 

is it going to be bad if there is or isnt any tensoin?
