Breaking in a rebuilt motor?????
Ok guys i have a 91 eclipse gs. it has a 2.0 DOHC turbo motor. The motor locked up after i had it for three days due to bottom end bearings going out. We pulled the motor and we took it to my dads friends machine shop. Were getting JE pistons put in it, bored 20 over, balnce removal kit. The valve guides were bent so its getting a valve job and a performance cam put in it. I was just wondering what kinda break in i need to do with the rebuilt motor. Ive been told to not rev it over 4 grand for the first 1000 miles and change the oil every 200 miles. Also i heard i should drive it on highways very much and not to go over 55mph. Does anybody know what exactly needs to be done? ANother thing is i pulled the motor and i was just wondering about setting the timing. THe motor is gonna be in top dead center when i get it how would i go about getting it in time. or should i just pay someone to put it in time so i dont bend valves or anything. Another questions is. where can i find a variety of bodykits for my 91. and what mods need to be done to the bodykits for the 92-94's????
Pay someone to time it for you.
Every 200 miles is a little overkill. You should just "take it easy" on the motor for the first thousand miles, but change the oil at like 500 and 1000, and you should be good to go

im not saying floor it/redline it, but make sure to vary the rpms, shift a lot etc especially for the first 50miles. stay off the highway for the first 500 IF you can help it, you dont want to hold the engine at constant rpms on a brand new motor.
