Cheap Parts !
Well, I have to say this,,,, after 9 months of owning this little car, it is certanly not the most reliable! BUT, so far, what has broke has been fairly cheap to fix!
Alternator rebuilt: $45.00
New front & rear brake pads: $40.00
New hyd. lifters (8): $75.00
New clutch slave cylender: $16.50 ( Bought / Installed last night )
New NGK "V-power" plugs (4) : $10.00
New belts: $32.00 ( Could have gotten cheaper, but I bought the best ones they had )
Purchase price of car: $1200.00
----------------------------------------------
Owned 9 months + repairs = $157.61 per month month cost for past 9 months.
Concidering the payment on my 2007 Dodge Ram is $509.23 / mo.,,, I can see why people drive these older cars so much!!!

Yes. I think if more "do it yourselfers" new how easy these cars are to work on, as well as how cheap the basic repair parts are to fix them, It might persuade more people looking into or owning these cars to buy them / keep them and not destroy them. I have kinda grown to love these little cars, and this great forum allong with them, over the past 9 months. I was just giving my thoughts on them for others to read. Corvetts, Mustangs, Nissan "Z" cars, heck, even GM's J-body & F-body cars all have multiple owner car clubs. I have not been able to find one single DSM club anywhere near me. ( Not that that is suprising, concidering I live in Nowhere-ville Tennessee! )
Thats why I have mine. It cost 300 bucks. I've put 500 more in to fixing it. However driving it instead of my ram with a 408 stroker and 10:1 compression has saved me more then all the money I have in it in gas since November.
You obviously havent had to replace the gas tank yet though. LOL.
