is it only first gear, and does it feel like the clutch is not engaging properly. Cuz you may just need to adjust the clutch pedal

ya first is the only one when i put it into first it grinds but i can put it into 2nd and come back and it wont grind untill i move past 2nd and then it does it all over again. they didnt do anything inside the car is there any adjustment on the transmition itself or would i just have to adjust the pedal
and heres another question my check engine lights been on since i got it back and ive had it for a week now and it isnt gone
what could cause this after a engine rebuild

if you had it dont at a shop or somethin i would be takin it back.
you might want to make sure the transmission is full of the right kind of oil, sometimes they put the wrong stuff back in after osing half of it when you pull the axles out to move the trans to pull the engine. i know if you use 80w90 on my cars old transmission it wants to shift hard and grind untill it warms up after driving for 20 minutes.
