Default HELP WITH Transmission!!!!!

Hey im new to this forum, I hope you guys can help me figure this out. My 1993 Eclipse doesn't know what gears to stay on. This is what the problem is, i start driving the car, it would shift to 2 3 4 really fast, then it will stay in a higher gear, i floor the vehicle and it shifts down to say like 2nd gear, then go up to 4th, then down then up and down so on and so forth. Then after a driving a while and i stop the vehicle, it would just stay in 2nd or 3rd gear. Could anyone help me?

Sounds like you've possibly got a bad PCM or TCM. Have you had those checked?

When it stays in that gear, its in "Limp Mode" Your Main brain box will put it in limp mode (Safe Mode) so the transmission wont ruin itself if there is something wrong with the tranny itself... But with all the wierd shifting prior to that It sounds like your tcu is bad. I just replaced my transmission computer for $250, from a guy, but that was at his price.. Your gonna be looking at more $ then that to get a new one.. If you need one let me know I might be able to get another one for that price...

But one way you can find out if it is your tcu, take it to a tranny shop and ask if they can hook it up for you.. If they can't read off it or they will tell you right out its bad, then your gonna have to replace it to get your car to shift normal again...
