they are more reliable than a 420...actualy they are pretty reliable....i got one runnin in a galant VR4 at my school for auto body and beat the hell out of it with no oil cap(meaning water prolly got into the engine) and it hasnt run for a while..AND IT RUNS WELL NOW..as for mods you can do what ever they sell......pistons, rods, cams, turbos, put an evo head on it etc....do u have a turbo 4g63 or N/A

thats if you dont do proper maintenince or do somthin to f*** it up or really bad luk...but in any car if a timing belt breaks...the engine is f***ed bent valves and damaged pistions are scratchin the surface of your problems if the belt breaks

on 90% of motors if the timing belt breaks it ruins the motor. The only reason you hear about it so much on these cars is because the owners are cheap asses and dont keep up with the maintanance. Of course if you dont change the timing belt for 150k miles its going to snap

it doesnt ruin the motorsebba, it just ruins the head. And most of the time its gonna cost about 1500 - 2000 to fix if it goes. But like they said, just keep up on the general maintenance

The 4g63 engine is a reliable engine as long as you dont cut corners and half *** timing belt/head gasketjobs.

As for timing belts the only way ot would do serious damage to the pistons is if you cruising at like 60mph and the belt breaks. It usually cracks the piston. If your at idle or close to it you can get away w/ a new head and filing down the dings onthe pistons.
