Umm.... those manuals are'nt the most descriptive on the planet, and since you clearly state you have very little mechanical apptitude, you're best, and most reliable bet, is to have it done by someone who knows what they are doing.

Damn, I hate when I type run-on sentences.
Ugh.

that would be a lot of steps... it's a descriptive process and to go into detail would literaly take up about 50-60 lines!! save your money, get it done right you do NOT want to be messing around with your internals if you don't kno what you are doing.

The best step by step your gonna get is a factory manual of the car from a dealer

if your friend know's what he's doing and has one it before, he shouldn't need a step by step process written out for him. in a mechanic's hands it's a relatively simple process, oil pan, main seal, harmonic balencer, drop the crank and bam. if he's asking for a step by step process... honestly i wouldn't trust it! that's just me though, you don't want to spend the money on the parts and for the labor (even though it's a friend) and then him make a mistake and end up having to replace more parts than just a rod bearing...

I'd suggest you find somebody else. You're not going to know what scoring on the crank looks like, you probably won't be able to tell if your crank needs to be reground, and that's a pretty big job for an unexperienced amatuer mechanic.

If you were close to around here I'd do it for you for moderately cheap.
