Default Trans-gen engine swap...

I recently got my paws on a '92 GS, and I tried looking through the old topics with search, but I didn't find the answer to my specific question. Would it be possible to swap a 2-gen 4g63t into this car? If so, what would I have to do to the ECU in order for it to work? Also, as a side note, when the car's cold, and I try to start out and shift from 1st to 2nd, it grinds going into 2nd, but it's fine once the car warms up. Any ideas?
Thanks,
STik

A 2gen trans will work on a 1gen 4g63 engine, you have to make the starter bolt holes bigger and thats it, no ecu.

Your 2nd gear syncro is going, try bg syncro shift in the trans.

Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it. Newbie question though, what is bg? As an afterthought, too... Might the extremely cold weather we're having effect the trans to that effect, since it subsides once it warms up? It's been hitting the single-digits around here is why I ask.

Its a aftermarket company ad you can pick it up pretty much anywhere, most of the dsm parts supplies online usually stock a lot of this stuff. It works really well.

There is also a bg friction modifier additive, you should use it when u use the bg syncro shift. You can also use the additive for the lsd rears too.
