Default 16G Turbo Question

::slaps on wrist::

sorry admin, i didn't do a search before asking. hell, it's too late dammit. lol

anyway my question is this
in the future i want to drop in a 16g turbo (as almost all gst/x are wanting haha), but i don't have the money to drop all at once on teh whole kit - turbo, 2g install kit, FMIC, Injectors, the works.
Now which should i do?

A.

Should I, when i have the moolah, first buy the 16g turbo and boost gauge and boost controller and set the boost low.
if so how much horses do you think it'd get running lower boost on the 16g?

or

B.
Start off buy saving up for a FMIC, then Change the hardware, Then get the turbo.

I'm one of those guys that can't go out and buy a part for his car and let it sit around the house until other parts that are needed arrive. I buy a part, hell, it's on my car less than a week later. lol

what do ya think?

I'd like to go A if that'll give me a horsepower boost, not hurt anything in the process, and will be cheaper in the beginning.

Also, i've done some research. On my car is the GReddy SP exhaust. anyone know if it's 3" or almost 3"? my car is way to low to be going under and measuring. thanks!

If it were my car I would buy fuel and an SAFCII first along with the MBC and boosst gauge and some sort of gusge for tuning. dont get the 16G untill the motor has the support around it with the other mods

Are the SAFCII absolutely needed with the 16g. I'm never going to get totally into tuning the vehicle. I wouldn't mind just slapping on the 16G with supporting mods and setting it at normal PSI and leaving it as that.

if you get the 16g your going to want to tune it. Otherwise it wont really run right. But definetly get the fuel upgrades before you get the 16g. You dont want to just "slap" it on there...otherwise well have to "slap" you JK

does he have fuel upgrades though? if you upgrade fuel you HAVE to tune the car. if you upgrade to a 16G and fuel you HAVE to tune your car.. if you stay on stock fuel you can leave out the tune but I strongly advise against that because to me that is more dangerous to the motor.

PooT tuning an SAFC is the easiest thing in the world. It took me less time to tune my car than it did to put the gauge and SAFC in and wire it up. and wireing it is very easy to

no, he doesn't have upgraded fuel. He's got nothingr really upgraded except intake, bov, 16g, and exhaust. and i've heard it's easy to tune, it's just a lot of money to throw down on a part. sure it's worth the money, but again, its a lot of money.

i ran my 16g on stock injectors at 16psi for well over a year before i decided i wanted to up the boost. get a 190lph fuel pump and the 16g will be fine at 16psi.

hmm i love the sound of that

about how much horsepower do you think i'll have if i did that?

I'm not looking to score HUGE horsepower, i'm happy to clock around 250 - 260.

im sure you will be around that, i was able to run a 13.5 at the track with that setup, but i had al supporting mods, 3" exh from turbo back, front mount, act 2600 clutch etc, but 16g's make some good power even at 13psi it was faster than my stock turbo ever was at ~17psi
