Default 1996 GS non-turbo dies intermittently

I have a 1996 Eclipse GS (non-turbo). For the past two weeks, it has intermittently died on me. There is no sign that it is going to happen and when it does, it's such a smooth stall, I almost don't even notice that it had died!

It dies 2 different ways:

1. ALL of the dash lights pop on, but when restarted, they go off.

2. The OIL light comes on alone, but goes off after it's restarted.

Sometimes, it starts right back up... and others, it takes a few minutes.

It has also died twice, now, going around a right turn.

My fluid levels are fine and there are no leaks anywhere.

I have a scanner, but it won't throw the check engine light on, so I'm in the dark as to why it keeps happening.

I've checked all the vacuum lines, cleaned out the throttle body, replaced the pvc valve and intake manifold gasket. These didn't change anything.

USUALLY when the Check Engine light comes on, it's a Bank 1 issue RE: o2 sensor/Catalyst... but, now I'm beginning to wonder if those were ever actually an issue, or if it was just the current problem trying to tell me it had an emissions problem that wasn't scannable.

Please&thank you for help!
Jenn

Default Throttle position, closed or open?

One thing I am not clear on, when it dies, is your foot on the gas, off the gas moving to the brake or on the brake?

(I am guessing you foot is off the gas when it dies.)

Are you sure about the code? Do you have a factory service manual? If you do, it will tell you what components or issues will cause codes and logically, there are no codes, then you can ignore those items that cause codes, right? Process of elimination.

This happens to me as well. No code, and i don't know if it happens to you but the engine cuts out momentarily while accelerator is pressed down as well, though, if the gas pedal is depressed the engine usually doesn't stall.
