Default 1998 Eclipse with 98 000 Miles...too much?

Hey, Im new here but have been looking for an Eclipse for awhile now. I was just wondering if 98 000 miles on an Eclipse is too much. I found a 1998 Eclipse GST for $10 500 Cnd. with that amount of mileage. Since I live in Canada its hard too find these cars, so you kind of have too jump on the first good one you see. Obviously I still have too test drive it and get checked out, but from pics it looks like its been taking care of and the owner claims that it has given him zero problems since he got it 2 years ago. Any help would be great, thanks.

Well remember it is 10 500 canadian, so like 9000 american. He was asking 11 900 but said he would come down too 10 500, im probably pretty sure I can bring him too 10 000 but thats about it. He says hes selling it because his cousin is the one who drove it and now has moved so its just sitting around.

98000 miles is not bad at all on the mileage, but i think 9000 is steep for a gst... if you look on ebay or autotrader you can find gs-t's for 5000-8000 and with the money you wil save you can ship it to canada and put a couple performance part on it.

I'm a sales consultant for a dealership and I'd say it's about a $6000 vehicle in "excellent condition" which it is probably in "good condition" so I would say about $5500...Kelley Blue Book under private party value is hitting it at about $6200 in "excellent" condition...I hate Kelley...we use it ONLY because every consumer in this world uses it....I would offer him no more than $6000 for that car you're looking at.

I have a 1999 Eclipse GS-T with only 51,100 miles on it...I would consider it to be "Good Condition" and Kelley is hitting mine at about $8000 on private party value on a good day. So Even if you could talk him into $9000, that's still way too much for that car...Plus 98,000 miles on it is a little above average but not real bad...Average milage should be around 80,000...Keep looking man!

Ya I've been looking for a few months, its hard too find them up here in Canada. If I get one in the states then theres a ****load of paperwork, plus fee and tax at the border. Also not every car can be brought up here so I'd have too find out, just felt like too much work to do. Even the GS and RS models are around 10 000 here, the cheapest one i've found in B.C is 9400. I'll keep looking but cant find much more, theres probably about 10 ecplises for sale that ive found total in B.C that are 2nd gen.

Hey man, I'm from Victoria, B.C. I have a 1998 eclipse gst I bought from Seattle, Washington that I brought up to Canada last fall. This is the 3rd american car I have imported to Canada over the last 3 years. What the Americans on here don't realize is that vehicles in general are considerably more expensive in Canada than in the states. So even though 10,000CA is a lot more than what you could buy a 98 gst in the states for, it's actually pretty accurate for the canadian market. I bought mine for 6900US last year with 100,000 miles on it and all service records. I'm not going to go through everything done to the car but it was lowered, with intake, mbc, guages,1gbov,upper int pipe, and most of the other 1 stage mods. It's fully loaded with tan leather and dark red metallic paint. Nice Combo. The body, paint and interior were in above average condition and the stereo was totally upgraded w/o subs. After bringing the car up to canada with all the paperwork and fees, pst, gst, duties, a/c tax. I was still sitting pretty at around 8500. With the market right now I have seen 98 eclipse gst in similar shape and mods as mine going for atleast 13-14,000. Thats the market for these cars in Canada. They are very rare because they didn't sell them there untill the 3rd gen. I sold my previous car a 1991 toyota mr2 non turbo, but with a prob installed clean body kit and new paint plus wheels, tires and exhaust for 14,000 CA, last summer. I had the car for 2 years and was only into it with everything I had done to it for under 10,000CA. I bought it of Ebay from a guy in San Diego...... Anyways do your research on the car if looks clean, runs well, and its the car you've been looking for. I would say 10,500 is fine for it. Of course try to get as low as possible, Offer him 9,500, and fi he says no, then ask him to split the difference at 10,000. That way you both win a little. Unless you have the time and the knowledge to bring cars up from the states go thats your best bet. If I can help it any way or you need more info, feel free to message me, Horms.
