Default 2000 Eclipse Center Speaker Replacement

Anyone know where I can pick up a center dash speaker for a 2000 Eclipse GS. No one seems to carry them other than the dealer, and they wat $100 for it.

Do you have a Pep-Boys near you ?

I noticed that they carry a whole selection of different speaker sizes.

Measure your dash speaker and they should have one that size.

Well, I went to a Car audio specialty shop (2 actually) and they both told me these were special speakers from Infinity, and that I had to order from the dealer. Just trying to avoid that!

Thanks!

Infinity ? good stuff, Infinity uses hi-tech kind of audio tricks to really make hi-class super clean audio,

man its worth it to go OEM on the Infinity sound .

What are you "pastor" of ?

Well, I am an associate pastor at a church here is Springfield.

I am going to get the Infinity speaker, I am just hoping to find it cheaper than $100 at the dealer.

You might want to cross reference the part number for those speakers. A lot of times, the manufacturer(Infinity) will have the same speaker for sale in the aftermarket that comes oem on the car. Of course the dealer will mark up any oem part, so if you can get in touch with Infinity, you may want to try asking for the speaker part number. Generally, if you can find it in the aftermarket, it will be cheaper. It'll be the same part, just your not buying it from the "middle-man" dealer.

I'm just sitt'n here wonderin'

what is so special about this speaker that it has to be OEM ?

Instead of matching the part # cannot you just identify the spec's (diameter, impedence, wattage, freq. range, and range config) and then match these at Pepboys, or JC Whitney or sumthin.

Speakers are speakers right ?

I mean even Bose with all of their super hi-tech engineering still use stock speakers most of the time.

i would not say "Speakers are speakers right ?" Just for the fact that brand dose matter in the audio world for exp: stock set mad of paperlike materal as in thickness. aftermarket 99% of the time are better than stock. if you are going to buy Infinity which is a awsome brand take a little extra time to get more money and buy the perfects. the sound is more crisp and clear. Infinity is one of those brands that if you spend on $100 you will get a speaker that is "low end" trust me i played with the audio system in my car and it is worth it to get one of the "high end" speakers. you will be glad you did.

dont get mad but just personal opinion STOCK SPEAKERS SUCK A$$.
