Default 2g eclipse enigne swap

ok so right now i drive a volkswagen but i am planning on buying an eclipse gsx in the near future. i already know a little bit about the cars. i was wondering though will an evo nine setup meaning the engine and tranny swap right into a 2g eclipse. i understand they are the same engine but with a different displacement, im not to sure about the tranny though, i want it to be out of an mr which is a six speep, i wanted to know if it were a direct swap or if anything different was needed beside the ecu. sorry if this is a frequently asked question but like i said i am new to these cars

no its not a direct swap because the engines are totally opositte of each other. They are rotated 180 degrees, so mounting would be an issue. I dont see the point in swapping an evo motor though since its the basic same thing. And also there isnt much of a point with the 6-speed because youll get worse gearing and a heavier tranny. Not worth it IMO

Motor orientation shouldn't be a consideration in motor swaps though. Fitment and control are. Beside, the 2G has two different motors that are in different orientations

IMO, just get the GSX and mod it. Seriously. Is the 6 speed that great of a consideration? Are you looking to race on the interstate a lot? Gas milage? If it's gas milage, you're worried about, stay with an N/A motor, you'll get better milage out of them than a turbo motor.

Just to point out... 6spds are not all that great.. all the worlds fastest Evos are 5spds the 6 spds are much slower in the 1\4. they really shine in the autocross and road course (at least the Evos 6spd) the supra 6spd is almost like no other trannyexcept the VR4 3S and the LS1 6spd cars. the Supra and 3S (2 gen) have getrag 6spds so they should be kind of simialr
