i was wondering what gives a lancer evo 60hp over a eclipse gsx considering they have the sAme engine

 

Stronger internals and bigger turbo

 

plus much higher stock boost

 

stonger internals dont give more hp by themselves, but yes besides bigger turbo and more boost:
slightly bigher compression
better flowing head, better cams (VVT) etc

 

PSI is doubled better flowing all around more agressive stock cams... the motor is just built more than the eclipse

 

the head on the evo is much more air flowing friendly. the compression was bumped to 8.8-1. larger turbo when it comes to the compression wheel & housing. a tade bit higher boost level. and a much more sophisticated ecm to allow proper air/fuel mixtures.

 

i would think its a pretty big jump because the eclipse stock runs around 9 psi while the evo spikes at like 18 before settling to around 15psi.
