Well i can tell you right now that you do.

90-93 had the 6 bolt... and the 94 (still a 1g) had the 7 bolt. That is a common mistake!

94-99 had the 7 bolt.

I was always told it was 93.5+ that had the 7 bolt.

I wouldnt swap the 6 bolt in. I just dont think its worth it... unless you plan on keeping the car for another 150k miles?

It refers to the number of bolts that attach the flywheel.

The 7 bolt has a problem that is called 'crankwalk' its not massivly common but it destroys the engine. Some 7 bolts never experiance it.. and some do. There is no way of telling.

The 6 bolts are a little stronger.. and dont get crankwalk. But it is expensive to swap the 6 bolt into a 7 bolt car... like... 3000 expensive.. not including the cost of the engine.

this post is complete BS sebba. IF you can do the work your self it is so freaken dirt cheap to swap in a 6 bolt. If your gonna rebuild a motor why rebuild a motor prone to blow up. its not that common??? well you tell me we have had like 5 members here in a year crankwalk there motors and it is a small forum. you do the math.

Where is silvercoupe we can ask how much he swap was and Ibet its not as expensive as youd think
