Hello all you eclipse guys... as you can probably tell, I drive a 3000gt. However... my really good friend found a 1994 eagle talon with the 1.8 sohc for DIRT CHEAP and we want to get a little horsepower out of it until we trade the 1.8 out for the 2.0. There seem to be NO modifications for the existing motor in this car. Can someone help with some performance sites for the 1.8 SOHC? Thanks.

 

Not much exists. If you want performance parts, look for stuff for the mirage of the same year. They share a related engine i believe.

 

Injen cold air induction
Port and polish head, intake man, exhaust man,
add lightweight straight thru muffler
(maybe do some custom pipes, but I didn't check this out yet)
N.O.S.

Thats it for performance, now you need to lighten it up,

Get rid of the bogging air conditioner compressor, belt, air conditioner radiator, (whole dang system)
then remove the 2 balance shafts and install RPM Ron's balance shaft eliminator kit
along with unorthodoxracing.com 8lbs aluminum flywheel pn 060910300 (and some lightweight
aluminum wheels) and then you got an engine that'l rev like crazy!

Maybe carbon fiber hood and get rid of spare tire and jack to make the car real light.

All this hard labor and expense should add up to get you about the hp of a stock 2.0DOHC

I was think'in that maybe (and I post this thought so to maybe stir up a little response) if you
line up with a DSM 2.0 Turbo and your car is really light compared to theirs and you hit the
N2O little red button early in the launch then you might be able to gain a car length while the
other guy is spooling up before he totally smokes your ***!
