Would the crank sensor cause my coil pack to go bad? also cause my car to die with no priar symptoms?

I checkedpower plug on the coil pack with a volt meter and all three wires are testing around 12.7 volts. the signal wire from the crank sensor should only read about a half volt or so... Therefore I am thinking the crank sensor is bad and sending the wrong signal to the coil.. Is this right?
