Default 95 Eclipse - Trans drops into 2nd and wont shift out

I have a 95 Eclipse 2.0 non turbo, automatic trans and recently my trans has been getting stuck in 2nd gear. It starts out fine but it seems like once the trans warms up and my I bring my speed dwn to that 2nd gear speed range, it drops into 2nd and wont up/dwn shift but if I shut the car off and start it back up (even while im still rolling) it'll operate normally, up until I get back to that 2nd gear speed range. then it gets stuck again. looking at some other threads, I see that the TCU's can be problematic on this car. Can anyone shed a little light on my situation? I'm getting ready to just go find a TCU and swap em out. Im all ears (eyes) people!

Have you checked the fluid level and condition?

Yes, fluid level is good, good color and doesn't smell burnt or anything. I'm expecting my new TCM today so I'll follow up on what happens. (Btw I drove my Eclipse to work today and it drove just fine!!! Wtf!?!? We'll see hw it does on the way hm!

Okay, changed TCM and problem still exists!! Could a "going bad" trans filter cause this? I know the fluid level is fine but I'm wondering if the trans is working too hard to pump the fluid if that'll put it into limp mode (2nd gear)? Any opinions?

I read in another thread that the trans speed sensors could cause this problem if they're out of sync. Also when changing the TCM u have to disconnect the battery so the ECM can relearn the new TCM. I didn't do that when I changed mine. Did it last night. Car will shift a little eratically at first but levels out after a bit. Unfortunately same problem still exhists. So ordered new trans speed sensors so we'll see if that takes care of it. I'll repost after the part swap! Wish me luck

The new sensors are already ordered and in route! Let me know if u do have a set and if this doesn't fix it we'll work something out. But now I'm wondering if my old TCM was still good!? Does anyone know if u can have those things tested somewhere?
