Default 97 Eclipse RS Question

hi, i have a '97 eclipse RS automatic. i just got it recently and have a question. some of my friends (16-18 year olds) have automatics and when i rode with one of them one time i was really suprised seein him SHIFTING gears while we were moving. like he would go from L to 2 to 3 to D4 so basically using it as a stick shift. isnt that really bad for your car. i wanna know before i try doing it and mess my car up. and one more will i be able to/be good/safe to put a turbo on an automatic because i've heard thats not too good either but want to hear more opinions...thankx

97 don't have the auto stick so what will not happen with a 2.0 dodge motor is

you won't go any faster you would just be beating the car to failure of either the engine or the transaxle

hope this helps .

also adding a turbo to that stock 2.0 will eventually kill it quicker than the car will go ....unless you redo that whole engine for the added power and take into consideration the trans axle wasn't desighned for it either

I hope i didnt rain on your parade just telling you how I see it

um.. im sorry to say but your friends are idiots. you can mess up your transmission in a month if you keep doing that. you use those only when your stuck going up hill for extra HP or something like that. Word of advice if your friends drive your car like that again smack them!

also, the lower gears on autoare used for brake failure; if brakes dont work shift down, engine will rev up and slow the car down. just my 2 cents...
