Default 97 eclipse spyder gst

Hi, im newbie here. I read some of the post about eclipse having crankwalk. Is there a way to prevent that from happening? im looking to buy a 97 gst spyder. What the pros and cons on this car. Do anyone know how much the dealer charge to replace the timing belt and waterpump?

1. Please do a search on google for crankwalk and youll find your answer not to mention the many FAQ's on it here.
2. Pros = easy to mod and have fun with as a first tuner car. Cons = its old and needs alot of upkeep
3. Timing belt and water pump will cost you around $500

change your oil. take care of your car. do proper maintenance. not much you can do other than taking care of a car the way you should. this is not a honda. you cannot neglect it and expect it to be just fine and dandy. btw, i have a 1998 gst with over 210,000 miles on it, and the original motor. no problems. but, i take good car of my car. even though it has seen some hard driving and lots of upgrades... i take care of it and always preventative maintenace the thing. and it is perfectly fine. and when something goes wrong, i park it til i fix it. take care of your car. you will be fine. i am also building a 1995 gsx for auto-x. i will be using the 7 bolt motor... no 6 bolts for me. i will take my chances cuz its not that likely to happen. especially with how i maintain my car.

also an fyi-
putting high pressure clutches on will make it more prone to walking ( not upgraded clutches necessarily, just high pressure upgrades ie: act2600/2900 or equivalent.. better off going with something that achieves the same holding power with less pressure (meaning different clutch plate/puck materials, so u will have to work on footwork with your clutch since clutches like i am describing are made of compunds that like to engage/ disengage less smooth and quicker. yet will hold the power. i prefer these types of clutches...

good luck with your car.
