Hi there. I too bought a used 97gs/rs hybrid I guess....

I also wanted to bolt on a turbo-kit but was informed that the motor was not suitable for a turbo kit. Sure, I was told that people do it all the time, but that this paticular motor the 420a was not suited for a turbo. So I did the next best thing and bought a brand new motor, 420a. Nothing like dependability in my book.
My motor was looked at prior to the decesion being made on the motor. Seems the head gasket needed replacing, timing belt lower compression arm and assorted other goodies, warped rotors ect... This led me away from the turbo to the new motor.

Did you already bolt on the turbo?

you could bolt on the turbo, but dont forget to replace your internals. that is if you want to boost more psi. for more power. ( and to play safe w/ boost)

From what the mechanic said, if I wanted more than 3lbs of boost I needed to do the internals to include tranny work.
