Default 97 GS-T Wasting oil?

Today I was running my 1997 Eclipse gs-t and it all seemed fine, all through first gear everything seemed fine, then I shifted into 2nd and at around 5-6k rpm it kinda kicked back for a second and then continued to 7k rpm, I was scared so I went into neutral and slowly drove home. I checked my exhaust pipe and it was pitch black and around my bumper too. So I checked my oil level and it was less than normal but my oil pressure was still fine. Why is my car wasting so much oil? Do you think its the O2 sensor? Or did my car kick back because i have a boost leak somewhere? Help please.

sounds like you hit fuel cut. caused by running too rich, which would cause your exhaust to be that black too. change your oil, fill it up to the correct amount, run your car for a while and see what color the smoke coming out of the tail pipe is. if its blue, its burning oil, white, its burning coolant (headgasket) grey its normal, and black or really dark thick grey its running too rich.

what mods are done to your car?

Try doing a compression test to see what condition your engine is in, sounds like fuel cut.

Well I bought it about a year ago and the owner before me put in a K&N Filter, Full Cat-back exhaust, and a 1st gen Turbo(I'm running about 12-13 psi) he didn't mention anything about a 6 bolt swap but it looks like it is. How do I keep it from running rich?

If the fuel system is stock I wouldn't worry abt it. If it really concerns you you can always get an safc.
