I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO GET THAT DEEP ENGINE ROAR FROM MY CAR,WILL AN INTAKE DO IT?YOU KNOW WHEN YOU MASH THE GAS ALMOST LIKE HONDAS VTEC.I NOTICED WITH AVENGERS AND OTHER ECLIPSES THEY SOUND SO FREAKIN SWEET EVEN BETTER THAN VTEC. I REALLY LOVE THIS SOUND AND WANT TO KNOW WHAT I HAVE TO DO TO ACHIEVE IT.THANKS AGAIN

 

A nice cold air with a good filter will def change the sound of the engine when you mash the trottle.

 

WELL SINCE ITS A GST,DO THEY MAKE A COLD AIR?IM GUESSING YOU ONE THAT GOES INSIDE THE FENDERWELL?I HAVE NOT FOUND ONE LIKE THAT,IM PRETTY SURE THEY DONT MAKE ONE FOR THE TURCO MOTOR.BUT WHAT IS THE BEST BRAND INTAKE TO GO WITH IN THIS MATTER?THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP AS IT IS APPRECIATED,JAKE

 

you'd have to cut a hole to make a cold air intake for a gst. and a filter is not going to roar in a gst, theyre pretty quiet until you get a downpipe and exhaust. even exhaust alone isnt too loud. if you want a really scary loud sound get an external dump

 

what is an external dump?

 

replacement o2 housing, its bigger an adds hp, eliminates boost creep/spike, and is loud as hell only when you floor it.

hey i couldnt get that link to work for the vid but got the other to work for that o2 replacement housing,can i bolt that right on my stock motor?how hard to do?and what exactly kind of sound does it make?deep engine roar im looking for or something else?thanks again,you are very helpful,jake

 

Well if it's a turbo you're not going to really get that sound, if your engine is pulling hard enough to get that noise you'll just hear the turbo. When I put my cone filter on I noticed a def differance in that you could really hear the tubo spool up as opposed to guessing most of the time with the stock setup. It's not the loud sucking noise you get with a N/A car with a cold air. You're not gonna get that anyways cause of the intercooler.

 

So then I should get the o2 dump for my N/A 1G to give me a nice rich exhaust sound? I'm thinking I don't need a CAI being that I practically have a short ram once I replace the stock filter. (If pics are needed I can post a link to the page with all the pics) Basically it was turbo stock but the turbo engine blew so it was removed and a N/A engine was dropped in. I haven't got the car up here in VA to look at (It's in FL right now needing a valve job). But the pics say something of what's there and what isn't. o2 dump is for turbos only, the loud sound is created when the turbo's wastegate opens up under heavy acceleration
