The optional part was the awd. Which is called the gsX model.

 

personaly if the car was in better condition and ran strong with no smoking issues and has half the miles of the old car id say you didt do to bad as far as macanical issues and running condition. now for the BB retail value the 95 ranges from $6,040-$6,575 depending on options. now the 99 ranges from $7,700-$8,970 depending on options so you still lost a little resale value on the trade even with almost 2X the mileage. this is why i truly beleve the sales man did the trade he gets rid of an older car of less vale and gets to sale a newer car for more money at no cost to him he didnt care if it was a gs or a gst.
