I have an aem CAI and i was just wondering what that little tube coming of the side does? It slipped off and my service engine light pops on and off... I'm hoping that tube coming off is why the light keeps coming on. I put it back on and used a small bandclamp to hold it in place. So far, about 80 miles the light has stayed off. What exactly is the little tube at the top for and could this be my problem?

it runs to the valve cover correct? it is just a breather. I took mine off and put a breather mini filter on the valve cover in its place, im not sure that will throw a CEL

I've noticed those on your car Emonz, do they work better than the hose?

its no different....think about it the hose runs to your intake which is just filtered air that is not yet metered so all I am doing is filtering it directly ya know. it is one of those things to neaten it up a little bit instead of hoses everywhere and my intake is custome made so it has no VAC nipple to put the hose so that is the only alternative for it

With the hose off you could have been pulling in more air than the Mass Airflow Sensor was telling the computer. That could be why your light was going on and off. Just a thought.
