well you know what sebba if your in a serious slide and your heading toward something. The clutch still isnt gonna save you, and the little difference in reaction isnt much. If you havnt experieced it you cant say. Its just as easy to get into an accident with a manual as it is an auto and its just as difficult to stop from getting in one. Believe me if its a bad slide i am willing to bet that 90% of people will have their normal instincts take over and you will hit the brake.

I have been in a slide before. I was driving in england (cant remember what car) i pushed the clutch in and just steered out of it. Dude i grew up amongst successful race car drivers, they taught me everything i know, and what to do when you hit ice is one of them.

Well duh the clutch isnt going to save you. I didnt say that. I said you have more control.

Im still gonna have to stick with Seb on this one even after all the debate. I hydroplaned in my automatic before and came about 1 foot from a tree because i couldnt control it. Then a few weeks ago, in my 5spd i hydroplaned and was able to get control of it. Its just simply having more control of what gear your in, and that wouldnt qualify for an auto truck because its 10 times harder to go into nuetral in a truck than a car, its not just a push, its more of a pull back push up (assuming the shifter is on the side of the steering wheel.

Hydroplaning tells me that you were driving too fast for the conditions. Auto or stick has nothing to do with that.

Something else, there's not a thing you can do if you are sliding on ice not even if you have 4WD.

Shreff you sir, remind me of me.

Dude, if you needed new tires, and you were hydroplaning, you were going too fast for conditions.

I do agree with what you said though.

So Sebbz, should I take that as a compliment? I work at a dealership and p!ss with cars every day of my life 60 hours per week. Plus I'm 30 years old and have a lot of driving experience and have been in nearly every situation someone could be in. Hmmm, to be young again [&o]
