Default Automatic trannie

is there any way of moddifying my automatic trans to make my car go faster. i was gonna have my trans rebuilt because it needs it really soon. i have a friend who will do it in his spare time because he owns a transmission shop. but he couldnt answer me on any thing that would make it better performance wise that is. i plan on putting in a evo 3 turbo this winter, so i want something that will handle that also.

Moved to 2nd gen forum..
The tranny won't go any faster, but you can build it stronger, just like any other tranny..auto or manual.
You'll want a higher stall torque converter, a shift kit, LSD......
Again, that's with any auto tranny. I would hope your buddy would know that, since he owns the shop.

Rezlo has them for the DSM 4g63. He's been around for awhile too. I've known of him ever since I had an auto 6g73. Give him an email about GS-Ts. His TCs are mainly for the AWD crowd, but I don't know enough about that tranny to give you more info.
I'm sure there's more online shops out there to get parts for your auto tranny, but that should get you started.

He just stated that it's going to need a rebuild soon? Perhaps it's slipping? He'll want a higher stall torque converter anyhow.

i know little to nothing about trannis but don't different gears give you more and less torque at locations? (example - mustangs swapping out their 'rear ends')
