Average price for a gst / gsx rebuild?
Since most of the 95-99 gst / gsx have over 100,000 miles i was wondering what i would be looking at to rebuild the engine on avereage? I wouldnt want to get one, mod it and then the engine go out. I just want to make sure the engine is squared away before i go mod crazy.
Thanks,
Thanks,
Well stock internals will hold up to 400HP. As for price that all depends on what you build it with, what kind of pistons, rods, crank, cams and the list goes on and on. A really nice build could run in the thousands and the price also depends on what kind of power you want to make. A rebuild with stock parts i dont even know, ive never looked. If your going to build a engine just buy the car and then on the side build a 6 Bolt and either when the stock engine goes or your 6 bolt is finished, whichever comes first, swap in the new engine.
i wouldnt trust ebay, but you can check slowboyracing.com for full engines or just parts for it, same with buschurracing.com, etc.... also dsmtraders isa good place to get new and used stuff for cheap
Honestly if you want a strong motor, dont bother replacing it with the stock internals. I would go with a longblock from either buschurracing or slowboyracing. Both have awesome motors
not everybody's got 4-7 grand laying around Sebz. stock rebuild is apx 500 bucks. forged internal rebuild ur looking at 1000-1300 range but these will hold up to 900 some odd hp. if you are only planning on running like a e316g than i'd just leave the car stock, hundreds of eclipses in the US are holding 350whp on an e316g on stock motor/internals. personally i'd go w/ nate's idea. get a seperate 6 bolt on the side and build it the way you want it built w/ your own custom compression, companies, you can stroke it if you want, whatever, and then when the 7 bolt gives away (and at 350whp you can bet it will) dorp the 6 bolt in there. it will raise the value of the car in 2 ways. 1: 6 bolt. 2: forged internals.
ORIGINAL: Sebba
If he wants to go mod crazy, he might as well save up to do it right.
