No i think its possible. I just went over to my friends house who is a 4x4 enthusiast. he tells me it is possible with minimal work and went into a deep explanation of why it is. Ill make a few pictures with MS paint tomorrow to explain what he told me. Im off to bed now.

this is a ridiculously basic general concept of how a locking hub works. the axle goes into the hub, and it can either spin freely, or be locked in place. So generally speaking any awd vehicle could use locking hubs.
4x4 are more than just the hub though you have to shift it in and out of 4x4 rwd inside to.
I really honestly see no way this is possible AWD is not even close to 4x4 only thing alike is power to all four wheels. I would assume if it is possible there whould be alot AWD guys with it because AWD sucks from roll racing and that would be a big help.
