Default Balance shaft?

Have a 97 Eclipse GSX. Doing a head gasket replacement. The Haynes book I have refers to aligning the balance shaft on the Turbo engine. Problem is, I don't have a balance shaft. The crank pulley has the balance shaft sprocket behind the timing sprocket. Any design change for this particular engine in 97?

Thanks. I think I've figured it out. After doing some research I found out that they sell balance shaft elimination kits. I never would have guessed.
