I know there are kits to remove the balance shaft. However instead of buying the kit can I just remove the belt on the balance shaft? Has anyone done this and what could happen if you just took that belt off. The links below have pictures of the balance shaft removed with a kit and with it still on.

Do it the right way and follow the directions on the vfaq. Do not just take the belt off b/c the one balance shaft is gonna spin and make a whole lot of vibration.

 

yea just do it the right way with the kit... it'll hurt more than help by just taking the belt off
