Blown Engine?
A few days ago, I was driving along when all of a sudden my temp gauge rose extremely fast and before I really had time to think of what to do, the car was bogging and shut down. After I let it cool down, I tried to drive it back home only to find that the bogging problem got worse. Long story short, I never made it home and when the tow truck driver came, he told me I probably blew the engine. A few days before this I noticed I had a radiator leak but just kept an eye on it. Do you think I blew the engine and need a new one or do what do you think probably happened and might need to be replaced? Any help will be appreciated!
You sure it was the radiator? My 92 LeBaron with the Mitsubishi V6 was overheating
a couple months ago and I noticed it was leaking radiator fluid. I thought it was the radiator, turns out to be the water pump. I drove my car like that for a month or so adding water to the radiator every 2 or 3 days even though it leaked out until my car overheated and died. I thought I lost my car and the engine was fried. Turns out, the water pump just tore the timing belt in half when it blew and I just needed a new belt and water pump and after that, it ran better than ever. Is your car a GS or RS with the 4banger? My friend has a 97 GS and his motor spun a bearing at 91,000 miles and he has to replace it. What happens when you crank the car up? Does it not do anything, or does the motor jerk like it's trying to start? If it is, you might have blown a belt of something.

yea, when my water pump went it warped the head, no compression, wouldnt even turn over, did you see steam comming from the engine anywhere? it could be a number of things, check the water pump, timing belt, and make sure you didnt crack the block or warp the head..... when the water pump goes it gets stuck and wont circulate water thru the engine causing it to overheat (duh), i warped my head really bad and had to have the whole damn engine rebuilt, some people get lucky and only have to replace the belt and pump, just depends on the car.............
my water pump was leaking (97 gsx) for a while.. I tried some stop leak, and that proved to help for a bit, BUT one day I was driving down the interstate and my temp gauge pegged out hot, luckily I was close to an exit and could cost all the way into a gas station.. popped the hood and let her cool down... I was pretty dry so I bought some more coolant, filled her up and too her to the shop.. got my timing belt replaced at the same time since they are all in the same location... all better now
Yea, there was steam coming from under the hood, it was hot as hell. I'm pretty sure its probably blown. Anyone know where I could find a cheap 1.8 or a cheap 2.0? The car came with 1.8, its not a turbo either so will a 2.0 fit? Its a 94' GS
where to get one, no, but you could throw a 2.0 turbo in there for about the same price as a 1.8 or 2.0, however they would have to put a new computer in it too, the only way they wont is if you go with the 1.8........
