Default Boost Gauge

Hey, Ive recently bought a '97 eclipse GST, and I dont have a manual. Does anyone know what the tick marks on the stock boost gauge are for? Like how much psi per tick mark? Ive got no idea and I need to fight out if my boost is leaking or not.

Yep. Get an aftermarket one, that actually tells you how many pounds of boost you are running. The stock one is NO USE.

Definetly get an aftermarket one. I always thought the stock ones are funny. You can be like "guys im running + on my boost guage" .

If your wondering what you are running stock. It should be between 10-12psi

Yea, the stock boost gauge kinda just guesses how much boost is there... thats WHY the tick marks dont have #s

Well the stock boost guage is reading real boost, its just the guage itself is really no help at all. I think maybe the second line is 10psi. But thats just a guess. If i remember there were three lines. One being vaccuum. Another being the the zero psi line and then one in the + area that might be 10psi. But once again its kinda pointless since there is no scale. But the stock boost guage gets its readings from the MAP sensor on your intake manifold

Just to keep on topic (yup, I'm about to go off topic, lol), these guys are all correct. The stock gauge is more of an indicator that the turbo, solenoid, and wastegate are working. The "+" just states that you're boosting and the "-" means that you're in vacuum, or the car's not on, lol.
An aftermarket boost gauge should be every turbo car owner's first mod....no, no, wait. I tune up should be a turbo car owner's first mod [sm=smiley36.gif]

Woo hooo! TE said 10-12psi and not just 10psi, lol....I'm just givin' ya a hard time bro
