Default boost gauge problem

Ok here is the problem. i just bought my 99 eclipse gst about a week ago. it is still stock except for the apexi N1 exhaust system, greddy turbo timer and greddy turbo gauge. i have notice that in first gear when i go wide open my greddy gauge will only go to about 8 psi and then start to drop. it will do the same in 2nd, but in third and fourth there does not seem to be a problem. im not sure if im loosing boost or if its just the gauge. what could it be.

thats what i thought. but it seems if there was a boost leak it would be across all gears, not just first and second. if there was a boost leak would my stock gauge also show the leak or have same readings.

The stock gauge doesnt really measure boost as much as guess using the RPMs and the ECU... Most people install aftermarket boost gauges due to the innacuracy of the stock ones... Have you checked your vacuum lines where the gauge is attached? It is odd that it doesnt do it across all gears.

not yet becuase i have still yet to check to see if the gauge is mechanical or electrical. it doesnt feel like the car has lost any power. ill probably do a vacuum test sometime today to see. just didnt know if anyone had this problem before.

it is a stock turbo. not very fast but steadily. i also noticed now that it does'nt seem to spool up as quickly either, again especially in first and second. i must have a leak somewhere.

mine holds 10psi, i don't lose pressure, we're going to have to find out whats wrong. i think it is an electronic gauge, i haven't looked at yours all that much, mine's mechanical so that might be the problem I dunno.
