Bad headgasket, to make sure, go get a compression tester from a auto perts store. Expect to pay about 30-45 bucks for a good one. Take a drive and let the car reach operating temp, turn off the car and take out all of the spark plugs. Screw the tester into cyl 1 and crank it over 3-8 times, check the gauge repeat for other 3 cyls. The cyls should read between 200 psi and 170 psi. And shouldent vairy more then 25% between cyl's. For example. If you have the numbers for 1-4 as 180,150,150,180, you have a blown headgasket. Normally a blown headgasket takes the psi of other cyls down with it.

If you have the non turbo (420A) Chrysler engine- it is VERY VERY common for the head gasket to leak at the drivers side rear corner of the cylinder head. This major leak finds it way down the back of the block and can drip onto the exhaust system and burn. Theres an updated (MLS) headgasket available from the factory including revised torque specs for the head bolts. It can get bad enough to cause oil burning from number 4cyl. Good Luck!

It drips on to the tranny not the exaust. The dp runs under cyl 2. Plus he said that he put a pice of card board under the car for the nigh and it was dry the next day.

Didn't catch that part- my bad . As for the head gasket- if allowed to leak long enough, it will just about soak the entire undercarriage exhaust included. They can leak pretty bad and loose lots of oil. The leak drips from the LR corner of the head. They updated the original headgasket with at newer seal around the oil galley but those leaked too. The MLS gasket is actually the 2nd update to the original.

Yeah it's a common problem in the neons as well. Go figure...
