Camshaft sensor Question
Ok, 3 days ago my check engine light came on. Today I was heading to autozone to have it checked and the rpms shot up and down then the car died out. It turns over but won't start now. So I bought a code reader and the code was P0340 Camshaft sensor circuit malfunction. Can anyone explain to me what this means, is this why the car won't start and if I replace the sensor will it start or is something else wrong??? PLEASE HELP ASAP!!!!!!
Well if it's a crcuit malfunction it could be the sensor (MOST likely) or it could be the computer (least likely) I'd say do the cheaper of the 2 and see if it works OR take it to a mechanic and have him (her?) look at it and do a professional job on it.
my car got this same error i replaced the CPS. the only thing you need to do so is a soldering gun. the wires have to be the same legth otherwise it will not work right. this fixed the rpm thing for me but now my car still dies. but i have talked to others that said it fixed everthing. oh and the CPS for our cars was a recalled part i had the POS old recalled part.
did u or anyone ever disconnect anything? that CEL comes on for me every time i do a compression test ( you have to disconnect the cam/crank connector to cut fuel/spark. Disconnect your battery for 30 sec and see if it goes away. If it comes back, then worry about replacing things.
