Default Can i bypass my intercooler?

1996 / GS-T / manual / 81k miles

My stock intercooler is damage so i wanted to just take it out.

the mechanic says i cant do this cause it "cools down the turbo"

my dad said i shouldn't cause then the air might spontaneously combust in the cylinder before it sparks

I think i will just take a small performance hit

What do you guys think will happen?

ill probably just epoxy the hole and put it back on

NO YOU CANNOT. Your engine will run extremely hot. Just find a decent used one. Im sure there will be plenty from junk yards for a low price. The air comming from the turbo is far to hot to simply run straight to the intake manifold.

good rule of thumb... if you dont know shlt about cars, and a mechanic tells you not to do something because it will mess your car up, dont assume you know better then him
