Can someone explain?

Can anyone tell me the purpose of a j-pipe? I believe its required for aftermarket turbos, why?

Because some turbos dont "face" the same way as the t-25, the j pipe is a pice of pipe(it looks like a j) that connects the compressor housing to the intercooler piping.
