i have a 98 eclipse gs, and there is this little black peice that is in my engine, connected with two tubes, and some wires. it looks like a cheap BOV, but i didnt think it was turbo charged. i took some pics, and would like to know what the heck this is...
IMG. #2is with the tubes and wires disconnected and turned around to get a rear view.
IMG. #4 is what the bigger tube is connected to on the right side of the block.
and also, i followed one of the wires, and it is connected to something in the back of the intake manifold.

Every 420a that are in the eclipse/talon have that....no cheap blow off valve....

 

ok, so thanks for telly me what that is....but ive never heard of that before. can u tell me what exactly an egr system is. is it anything that can be upgraded?

Ya, the GST/GSX EGR valve actually looks even more like a blow off valve

 

some people actually take it off and block it off, its called exhaust gas recirculation valve =) basically recycle air, without the benefits of coldair or boost

 

its an emissions thing. it takes exhaust gas and recycles it into your engine, causing your car to run more lean.. reducing emissions
